The simple agreement between you and Biography Machine when you make a book with us. By using the service you accept these terms.
Biography Machine interviews you in conversation and turns your answers into a written, printable autobiography. It is a keepsake made from your own memories, not a legal, medical or historical record, and not professional advice of any kind.
You own your story and the finished book we build from it. We claim no ownership of your memories or your book, and you are free to keep, share, print and sell it. We only use your content to provide the service to you, as described here and in our Privacy Policy.
So that we can actually make your book, you grant us a limited licence to use the content you provide (what you tell the interviewer, and any photos or links you add) for one purpose only: to run the interview, and to write, edit, typeset, store, print and deliver your book to you. This licence lets us pass the necessary content to the providers listed in our Privacy Policy (for example to draft the text, take payment, or print and ship a copy). It is non-exclusive, does not transfer ownership, and ends when you delete your content or account, except for anything we must keep by law or that a print partner already used to fulfil an order. If you later choose to publish (see below), you give us the additional permission needed to do that.
You confirm the memories are yours to tell, and that sharing them doesn’t break the law or someone else’s rights.
We work hard to keep your book faithful to what you told us, and we show you the manuscript to review, edit and approve before it is printed. Because your book is written from your own account, you are responsible for the truth of what you share, and for making sure it’s yours to tell.
Your book is created with our own proprietary technology, built on advanced third-party AI and layered with checks we developed in-house to keep it grounded in your own words. Automated drafting is involved, but you review and approve your manuscript before it is printed, the final say is always yours.
The Biography Machine service, its interview method, software, prompts, workflows, designs, text, images and the distinctive way it turns a conversation into a finished book, is our proprietary intellectual property, protected by copyright and other laws. Your story and your finished book belong to you; the underlying system that produces it does not, and no rights to it are granted by using the service.
You may not copy, scrape, crawl, harvest, mirror, resell or systematically extract any part of this website, its content or its APIs, whether by automated means (bots, scrapers, headless browsers) or otherwise; nor may you reverse engineer, decompile or attempt to derive the workings of our technology, or use any part of the service to build or train a competing product. Example books shown on the site are illustrative and remain our property. We monitor for and may block automated or abusive access.
Don’t use the service to create or upload content that is unlawful, or that harasses, defames or violates the privacy or rights of others; don’t upload malware, attempt to break or overload the service, or use it on behalf of someone else without their permission. We may decline, suspend or stop service that breaks this.
We want you to be happy. If something is wrong, contact us and we’ll do our best to make it right.
Publishing your book to outside bookstores is optional and only ever happens if you choose it. If you do, you give us the permission needed to list and distribute your book through our publishing partners on your behalf, and any royalty split and terms will be shown to you clearly before you opt in. You can withdraw a book from sale as those channels allow. You remain the author and owner of your story throughout.
We respect intellectual property. If you believe content on this service infringes your copyright or other rights, email hello@biography-machine.com with “Copyright” in the subject, describing the content, where it appears, and your rights in it. We will review and, where appropriate, remove it promptly.
We aim to keep the service running and your book safe, but we can’t promise it will be uninterrupted or error-free, and to the extent the law allows the service is provided “as is”. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law (including your statutory consumer rights); otherwise, our liability is limited to the amount you paid us for your book.
These terms are governed by the laws of Spain and the European Union. Mandatory consumer-protection rights of the country you live in still apply. EU consumers can seek out-of-court resolution through their national consumer authority or a certified alternative dispute resolution body (in Spain: consumo.gob.es) — or simply write to us first; we answer every dispute personally and quickly.
If we change these terms we’ll update the date above and, for anything significant, tell you by email. Continuing to use the service after a change means you accept the updated terms.
