Your life story is the most personal thing you could give us. We treat it that way. This page explains, in plain language, what we collect, why, the legal basis for it, and the control you keep.
Biography Machine (“we”, “us”) turns a conversation you have with our interviewer into a written, printable autobiography. Because you’re telling your life, what you share may touch on “special category” data under the GDPR, things like health, religious or political beliefs, or ethnic background. We only record what you choose to tell us, purely to write your book, and we ask for your explicit consent to process these details for that purpose. You can withdraw that consent, and delete the content, at any time.

Your book is created with our own technology, which uses advanced third-party AI to help draft the prose from your own words, plus checks we built to keep it faithful to what you actually said. Automated drafting is involved, but you review and approve every part before anything is printed, no decision with a legal or similarly significant effect on you is made solely by a machine. You can always reach a person at the email above.
Only the services needed to build and deliver your book. Each is a data processor bound to protect your data and to use it only on our instructions:
We do not share your data with anyone else, and never with advertisers or data brokers.
Your data is stored in the European Union. One processor (Anthropic) may process text in the United States; where data leaves the EU it is protected by the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses, so it keeps an equivalent level of protection.
Your data is stored on a secure server in the European Union. Connections are encrypted in transit, access is limited to what’s needed to operate the service, and we keep regular backups so your story is never lost.
We keep your interview and book for as long as your account exists, so you can always come back to continue or reprint. If you ask us to delete it, we do so permanently (see below). Records we must keep by law, such as proof of a purchase for tax, are retained only for the period the law requires, then deleted.
You are in control. Email hello@biography-machine.com from your account address and ask us to delete your book and data. We remove it from our live systems promptly and from backups within 30 days, permanently, and confirm when it’s done. (We may keep the minimum records the law requires us to, as noted above.)

We use one essential cookie to keep you signed in to your own book. We don’t use advertising or third-party tracking cookies, so there’s no need for a consent banner. If we ever add analytics, we’ll ask first.
Biography Machine is for adults. It isn’t intended for anyone under 18, and we don’t knowingly collect data from children.
If we change this policy we’ll update the date above and, for anything significant, tell you by email.
