Your life story is the most personal thing you could give us. We treat it that way. This page explains, in plain language, what we collect, why, and the control you keep over it.

Who we are

Biography Machine (“we”, “us”) creates a printed autobiography from a conversation you have with our interviewer. For any privacy question, or to exercise any right below, email hello@biography-machine.com — a real person answers.

What we collect

• Your name and email — so you can return to your book from any device and we can reach you about it.
• What you tell the interviewer — the memories, people, places and feelings you share. This is the heart of your book and the most sensitive thing we hold.
• Photos you choose to add to your book (optional).
• Links you optionally share about yourself, which we read once to ask better questions.
• Payment details — handled entirely by Stripe. We never see or store your full card number.
• A shipping address, only if you order a printed copy.

Why we use it

Only to make your book and deliver it to you: to run the interview, write and typeset the manuscript, print and ship it if you order it, and send you messages about your own book. Nothing else.

Who we share it with

Only the services needed to build your book, each bound to protect your data:

• Anthropic (Claude) — your words are processed by Claude AI to write your book. Under Anthropic’s commercial API, your content is not used to train AI models.
• Stripe — to take payment securely.
• Resend — to send you email about your book.
• Our print partner — only your book file and shipping address, and only if you order a printed copy.

Where it’s kept & how it’s protected

Your data is stored on a secure server in the European Union. Connections are encrypted in transit, and we keep regular backups so your story is never lost. Access is limited to what’s needed to operate the service.

How long we keep it

We keep your interview and book for as long as your account exists, so you can always come back and continue or reprint. Ask us to delete it and we will — permanently.

Your rights

Under the GDPR and similar laws, you can at any time:

• See what we hold about you;
• Correct anything wrong;
• Get a copy of your data to take elsewhere;
• Have everything permanently deleted;
• Withdraw your consent.

To do any of these, email hello@biography-machine.com. You also have the right to complain to your local data-protection authority.

Cookies

We use one essential cookie to keep you signed in to your own book. We don’t use advertising or third-party tracking cookies.

Children

Biography Machine is for adults. It isn’t intended for anyone under 18.

Changes

If we change this policy we’ll update the date above and, for anything significant, tell you by email.
